TV Host, Emcee, Deejay, Voice-Over Talent,TVC Talent, Event Manager... Alvin Anthons can now add Singer to his list of accomplishments with the release of his debut single, Berdua.

Berdua is the first single to be released under Alvin's self-titled debut album, due out later this year. A mid-tempo, pop - rock song, Berdua talks about learning from past mistakes, moving on, and being a better person in a new relationship. Released under Wake the Baby Records, this marks Alvin's first collaboration with owner-composer Ajai.

Alvin's foray into the entertainment industry began nearly 20 years ago when, after his SPM, he worked as a gofer - or in his own words "budak angkat barang" - for a sound system company. Following them on their event assignments, Alvin started learning the ropes about the industry and with his thirst for knowledge; he soon picked up tips on deejay-ing and mixing background music for dinner shows.

When the Master of Ceremony for a private college's annual dinner cancelled at the last minute, Alvin was asked to take over. "I barely had time to prepare and was really nervous. While I had seen it done many times, I had never done it before," he recalls. Mustering his courage, Alvin got on stage, emceed the event and wowed the audience with his style. That marked the start of him being in the foreground, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Throughout the years, Alvin's personality and distinctive style has charmed audiences throughout the country and abroad. In addition to managing highly entertaining events for his clients, this multi-talented man has also helmed 'Let's Talk', a Entertainment Talk Show Programme on TV2 which ran for three seasons, garnering over one million viewers. Alvin was also in demand at the Miss Malaysia World Pageant, where he co-hosted the event for two consecutive years. Recently, Alvin was the Master of Ceremony for the Association of Space Explorers' 23rd Planetary Congress held in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia is the first Southeast Asian country to host the six-day congress.

While he has been in the public eye in various roles, and occasionally sang at company annual dinners, Alvin has never sung professionally before. This is a wish he has kept close to his heart for many years. A meeting with Ajai last year changed that and Alvin is now set to embark on a new musical journey with the release of his single and subsequent album.

So what kind of music does he like? "Being a deejay before, I listened to all genres of music, but my favourites have always been classic rock, retro, R&B, the music I grew up listening as a kid." He cites 80s classic rock bands Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams and Queen as some of his favourites, along with legendary sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar, and Malaysian legends Alleycats and Sudirman as his musical inspirations.

Alvin also shows his songwriting skills in another single from the album, released later this year. With that, Alvin can add another feather to his cap - songwriter.
